This selection expands on the inaugural 1964 definitive collection issued for the Emirate of Fujeira (الفجيرة). Maintaining the series' characteristic horizontal duo-panel layout, each stamp displays a formal portrait of Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad Al Sharqi (ruler from 1942 to 1974) inside an elegant, gold-inked arabesque frame on the left, while showcasing the region's rich mammalian and avian biodiversity on the right.
This horizontal layout features a detailed illustration of the majestic Arabian Oryx (Oryx leucoryx), an iconic antelope species deeply tied to the cultural identity and desert heritage of the Arabian Peninsula. Known for its striking long, straight horns and luminous white coat designed to reflect the intense desert heat, the oryx is depicted standing in its natural gravel plain habitat. This issue holds significant historical resonance, as the species faced extreme conservation pressure in the wild during the mid-20th century before intensive regional preservation programs helped stabilize its population.
