John F. Kennedy Memorial Airmail Issue
This teal 75-naye-paise airmail stamp ("بريد جوي") was issued by Dubai (دبي) in 1964 as part of a solemn memorial series following the assassination of the 35th U.S. President, John F. Kennedy, on November 22, 1963. The balanced layout features two distinct circular vignettes: the Great Seal (Coat of Arms) of the United States on the left and a formal portrait of President Kennedy on the right. In the center, a striking vertical overprint reading "22 NOVEMBER" in deep red intersects the bilingual commemorative text ("IN MEMORY OF JOHN F. KENNEDY / ذكرى الرئيس جون كندي"). This issue leveraged international philatelic interest to commemorate a global historical tragedy while broadcasting Dubai's postal presence to a wider audience.
