Oil Rig and Dromedaries - 5 rupee
This high-value stamp presents a striking economic allegory documenting the mid-century transformation of the Trucial Coast. The horizontal composition frames a towering onshore oil drilling rig in the center—commemorating the commercial discovery of petroleum in the emirate that began transformation of its financial landscape. In the foreground, two Bedouin nomads lead their dromedary camels across the desert floor, juxtaposing millennia-old transport customs with contemporary petroleum engineering. Bearing an oval portrait of the ruler, this high-denomination stamp authorized premium international transit rates while capturing the dawn of Abu Dhabi's modern industrial era.
